So lately with my driver, the clubhead is wide open at the top and the emblem on my glove is facing almost parallel to the ground rather them more up towards the sky.

this, obviously is causing me to occasionally push the ball out to the right or hit a big fade that ends up landing about 20 yards offline. usually my timing is good and i can get the clubhead square at impact but i would definitely like to get more consistant.

ive tried keeping the clubhead square at the top but then i release it too early and then i end up pulling it left.

any suggestions? my grip is such that i can the knuckles of my left index and middle finger and my friend thumb and index creates a V pointing straight at my right shoulder.

--- edit
i started twisting/rotating my left hand more on the backswing to compensate for pulling the ball. im voluntarily opening the clubface along my backswing.

Picked up a BB 454 ti recently and the results have been varied. When I hit good shots they go 300+ yards. When I don't, I have a major slice. Last 9 holes I played I shot a 46 which I was quite happy with. The only thing that didn't quite work well was the driver.

Hit the range today and started thinking about Tiger Woods slowmotion video of his drive by Nike. On his backswing, he takes his club back till its parallel to the ground and then unleashes. I never would quite do that with my swing; the club would be at more of an angle cause I was too scared to corkscrew too much and if felt a little uncomfortable. Well I tried to emulate Tiger's swing on the range and it works for me....ball after ball I consitently hit it 300 plus . Now, well see how I play Thursday with the driver.

Instead of twisting your left hand on the backswing, start out with it more closed when you grip the club, that will help it from not going left.

I get this problem as well.. I've narrowed it down to 2 things...

1. I am over-swinging
2. I am standing too far away from the ball.

I correct this by trying to get as consistent as possible with my stance (exact same distance from the ball), and to throttle back some.

I have found that even though I am throttling back a little it is actually making better contact, giving me the same if not more distance than before.

Hope this is some help!

What you do is called pronation. As you know it can rob you of distance and accuracy.

The best fix I've known is pretending you're holding a tray at the top with your right hand. If you do it correctly, that will square the clubhead at the top. I know you may release your hands too early when you do this...but if you've been pronating for a while you're probably not used to making a proper delayed release.

If you can square the club on top, I would suggest working on delaying your release...the timing may seem off in the beginning, but It'll pay off in the end.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
