Questions about distance.

Taking your yardstick into the longer irons, I assume you hit a 5i about 170, and a 4i 180, hybrid about 195, 3W 220 and Driver maybe 240? If these are your distances, you should be able to get home in two on most par 4s you would face.

Good contact, tempo and realiability on distance is worth a whole lot more than a couple of extra yards on your 9 iron. Also, consider that you are using G10 irons, which really get the ball up into the air. I test hit G10s last year when hunting for new clubs, and the ball took off like a rocket. I met other 20 HDCP players like me had played the G10s for awhile, then dumped them because they ballooned everything. This can cost you a few yard distance. You might test-hit the G10 5, 7, 9 on launch monitor and see if you are getting super-high flight. Not that you need to ditch the G10 clubs right now. But, for the future you might consider iron head and shaft combo which keeps the ball lower. Me, if I could hit my 9i a solid 130 every time, I think I'd be pretty happy.

Is this more about an ego boost or just that you can't get it that far? i second the poster who said reliability of yardage is more important than the length you get out of one club on the whole (not hole). If i'm next to a guy in the fairway 130 out and the guy next to me has an 8 iron, and i have my 9...and 8/10 he puts it within mine...id be more pissed than if i had that extra yardage...feel me?

Yea I "feel" you, but...... lack (loss) of distance = lack (loss) of fundamentals. Which is why Im worried. I used to hit a 9 iron 150 yards, now its about 130-135. Something happened somwhere along the lines and Im working VERY hard to figure that out right now.

I dont care about distance, but when I lose on average 20 yards per club, I have to figure out why.....
