I love the TM r7 TP irons, but I never pulled the trigger to buy them. They are now getting harder and harder to find new, I am debating on getting them. Does anyone have them and if so, what do you think of them? I hit midsize Taylor Made 320 series now. I looked at the Tour Burners, but those were actually a little bigger than mine now.

At being around a 7 right now, I am not too sure I am good enough to start looking at blades, so thats why I m thinking the TPs.

I bought these after a three months of playing and I do not know my handicap exactly, but I shoot High 70's or low 80's depending on the course. I have been playing for a year now and I love these clubs. They feel perfect on contact, I just changed the grips to golf pride and I have great consistency with them. They look and feel amazing. They are the best part of my game. I know this wasn't that great of a review, but i would recommend them to other fellow golfers.

I switched to the TM r7 TP irons (3-PW) replacing Mizuno MP-60 (5-PW plus 2 Cleveland hybrids) last spring and these are BY FAR the best irons I have ever played. While my set far from retail (Kenny Perry prototype TP with increased offset - and, yes, he is still playing the r7, not the r7 TP - THAT'S why I could get them!), these are extremely forgiving and have a very tight dispersion both laterally and in distance.

IMHO, as for "looking at blades" - virtually NO ONE on any tour plays blades, so why should you??? Even the tour blades are disguised cavity backs. There is no shame in hitting more greens and lowering your score by using players type non-blades. If you plan to use blades, then go back to wound balata balls too! Both are yesterday's technology.

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
