I purchased the i mix ft 9 tour with the MR Fubuki tour stiff flex shaft. I bought it from Callaway Preowned and have two weeks from when I received (2/23) it to send it back (shaft only). I like the head alot. It has a great sound and look. But the shaft, now sure about. I believe it is a bit too stiff for my swing and have to be very aggressive through the ball to not miss it left (push even slice at times). I also am not hitting it as high as I'd like. Here are my options:

1) I spoke with a local golf shop with a launch monitor and I fit system. If I don't purchase the shaft from them they charge 50 dollars for the fitting so I can go there, get on the monitor, and find that works best, send back the one I have and get the one that gives me the best launch conditions. Great option, but expensive. I really don't want to turn a $185 driver into a $300 driver. If the price was ok and the one I needed wasn't super expensive, I could buy it from them and get the $50 fitting fee waived.

2) I could send it back and make another stab. I was thinking of trying the same shaft but in the non-tour version which is a bit lighter but I can't confirm if it is less stiff. I will find out. The only thing this will cost is the shipping back of the shaft I bought.

3) Keep what I have. I like it when I go after it but I am afraid I am losing distance since I don't have the swing speed to load it. I like it in that I don't have to worry about missing it right. I can swing as hard as I want and not hook it. Also has a great feel.

Any advice would be great. I like option 1 and 2. I can't count on gaining swing speed and would rather have a club that fits my swing rather than fit my swing to the club.

As soon as I put my Graffaloy ProLaunch Blue on my FT-iQ I started to hit the ball higher. I'm also relatively sure that the stiff flex for this shaft is a tad weaker than most, but don't hold me to that. It's also not terribly expensive.

I have the reg FT9 9 that I bought with the same fabuki and for me it balloons too much, nothing worse than having your drive back up three feet. Last summer I GPSd a 260yd and 279 yd carry where both backed up. I'm trying the graffaloy red/w axis stiff now. It has a much better ball flight, but feels stiffer, but seems longer. I'm going to try an Aldila DVS next. I don't have a place to test them first here but if I did I would. There are some great deals on E-Bay for I mix but not too many regular. I had an FT5 with an Adila shaft of some sort that I GPSd two drives at 287 and 290 carry as both were plugged. Wish I could remember what shaft it was. My normal carry is about 245-260 no wind so somehow I hit those two drives perfect I guess.

If your looking for deals I'd check out Callaway preowned. The prices are really good.

I picked option 2. I am sending it back and trying the non-tour model of the same shaft.
