The putter I carry in my bag is a $5 used one I got a few years ago, when I only played once or twice a year. Now that I try to get out more often, I wonder if a new putter would help at all.

I realize that a new putter isn't going to turn me into a good putter, so I'm not expecting any miracles that goes with new equipment.

However, I stopped at Golf Galaxy today and tried some out. I found one I really liked, but right now don't have the cash to drop on a club (maybe later this summer...).

So my question is, since I'm only testing the putters on the flat, fake store putting area, how do I know if any one putter is "better" for me than another? Is it pretty much doing what I did today - trying out a few and seeing if one stands out more than others?

Yeah I'd say that go with what feels the best, feels comfortable, makes you feel more confident. For me it was picking up an Odyssey White Hot 2 ball something or other, the kind that has permiter weighting, maybe called a mallet style? It just felt right in my hands, know what I mean?
