This sucks. I have been getting carpal tunnel syndrome pretty bad in my left wrist all the way up my forearm. It work at a computer for living. It will probably result in surgery down the road. In the meantime, my doctor has me wearing one of those funky carpal tunnel gloves that straps around my wrist and goes halfway up my hand with my fingers sticking out. It has a thin metal strip stitched inside it to restrict certain wrist movements.
Playing golf without it is extremely painful (to the point of almost impossible) and playing golf with it is distracting (to say the least) but at least I can play.

My question is it against the rules of golf to use the thing at all?

I'm guessing that it is illegal, but honestly, why would it matter? If you are not a scratch player in tournaments, you should not worry about it. Have fun.

Exception under Rule 14-3 says:

Exceptions: 1. A player is not in breach of this Rule if (a) the equipment or device is designed for or has the effect of alleviating a medical condition , So feel free to use the glove.

Thanks. I play in a men’s league and they get pretty tight about the rules (there’s usually a skins pot involved).
