Recently I have been asking questions regarding what irons to go and try. Today when I got back up to college I decided to go to one of the local courses and talk with the Pro there. He allows anyone to demo anything he has on display out on the course (he literally unwrapped three 6 irons for me to go hit). I thought it sounded like a great idea so I took the 3 out with me (Ping g10, Mizuno mx-300, and Mizuno mx-1000) and played 18.

Anyway, I loved the feel of the mx-300s. I think I had a hard time getting passed the look of the g10s (I do not like bigger looking clubs, maybe they intimidate me haha), and the mx-1000s did not feel like anything special. Which brings me to my next question for all of you...

What clubs used/new would fall into the $3-600 price range that are also worth hitting before I make a decision? I think I would like to hit a set of slingshot 4Ds, AP1s, Nike CCis, mx-25s, and possibly some mp-52s for curiosity sake. Any other ideas? I cannot remember what all they had in the pro shop, but it was a decent amount for the small size.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Give the Cobra FP2's a try. A friend (~25 handicap) just picked up a set after trying just about everything. For a game-improvement iron, i think the feel and playability is pretty great. They are cheap too!

In that price range, the CCi's and MX-25's will be cheap. CCi' are around $299 and MX-25's $199-$299 or so.
