Im 23, just getting back into the game. I played a lot through my younger teens and am starting to get back into it since I will be out of college soon, and will not have the need to take summer classes (thank god)!
I've been a hockey player my whole life, so I feel I have a pretty good idea of the mechanics and the motion that goes with a good swing but I definitely could use some help (especially with consistency).
My question is: should I shell out to take lessons with a local pro now, or should I wait until the middle or the end of the summer to seek lessons so I can get my game worked out a little more to see where I really need help? -Or- are lessons a complete waste of money? Any opinions would be appreciated.

lessons as soon as you're able to. trying to do it on your own will just help develop and then reinforce bad habits and build muscle memory for the wrong swing, especially if your plan is to do it by hitting hundreds of balls on the range.

ERdiesel, thank you for such a quick response. Ill look to schedule something next week after finals.

Anyone from Long Island that had a good experience with a pro that they would like to recommend?
