I'm just posting a general question here to those of you that are in a golf club that runs a year long tournament similar to what the FedEx Cup is. I'm looking for information on how your club currently calculates tournament results and what that translates to in terms of determining an overall year long winner.

Even if your club doesn't do something like this do you think it would interest you to have something similar to the FedEx Cup in your club as a way to define your clubs best / most consistent golfers?

I moved clubs 2 weeks ago, but I was once on the match committee at my previous club. When I was there we introduced an 'order of merit'. Basically every week a number of points are awarded to each player depending on where they finish in the overall field (nett scores obviously) women are also included.

It is now an honour board title that is second only to club champion. Since it's inception 3 years ago, it has become a much coveted title. In it's first year it was won by an A grader, then a C grader in it's second year. This year it was won by another A grader, with a mix grades making up the top ten.

How we work it is very similar to the money prizes of pro tours. If 1st and 2nd tie, they share both 1st and 2nd prize (points) it's quite simple. We award 300 points to first place, and it sequentially lowers with each position. I can't remember exactly what the other numbers are.

There are no 'playoffs' (a total wank on part of the PGA in my opinion) just a top takes all type thing.
