I bought a Bushnell Pinseeker 1500 Tournament Edition over the winter, and up until the last few rounds it's been great. It would regularly scope targets with ease well over 300 yards, and beginning just recently, it has slowly but surely given me more and more problems until now it is unreliable at best for anything beyond about 150 yards. Most of the time I will just hold down the button and try to hold as still as possible but it will just stay as 3 blank dash marks (indicating it is not picking up the yardage).

Unfortunately there is no information on the Bushnell website nor is their information regarding this kind of a problem in the troubleshooting section of the manual.

I know there is a 2 year limited warranty but I'm sure this requires a receipt and I do not have the receipt.

Anybody have any idea what the problem might be? Or has anybody had similar problems, either with Bushnell or another laser rangefinder?

Any tips or solutions would be much appreciated!

#1. Change the battery and see if that fixes it. Mine was doing goofy things this spring when I first brought it out after the winter and after a battery change it worked like a charm.

#2. If that doens't work, contact Bushnell directly. If it is new and under some sort of warranty, they will probably do something for you. I wouldn't worry about the receipt. A model number or serial number on the device should be enough to tell them when it was made.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Never had an issue with my Bushnell Tour V2, so I can't say. This is starting my 3rd season with it and I couldn't be happier.

I have the same problem. I contacted Bushnell. When out of warranty the cost of renewing the rangefinder approaches a new price.

    • Hey, thanks for the feedback. I do lift weights but I’m also adding yoga or Pilates for mobility and flexibility to my routine.
    • Day 18: 2026.01.20 Continuing work on arm raise during backswing. Starting to feel less weird, especially the slower I go. Looking like a busy week so might be the weekend before I can hit some balls.
    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
