Probably 60-70 on the front 9. At #1, took two swipes at the ball and missed completely with my beat-up, rented persimmon. Then got serious and brushed the top of the ball, which rolled 30-50' down the fairway. A 3 on the scorecard as I left the tee box. Putting was equally bad, 3-7 putts to get the ball into the hole.

I don't know what it is about the first hole, but at the course I play at it's a par 4 and I consistently hit 10s. It's by far my least favorite.

my worst as a beginner, was bout 50 to 55!a few yrs back now! today thoe i did 9 holes after work and went around in 30;)+3,takes a bit to go round a par3 9holes in 30 but with persistance u all will get there;)

+29, twice.

Once early last year -- my first 9 holes on a real (par 36) course after a few lessons and some range time.

+29 my first time out this year -- 58 on a par 29.

Fortunately, I'm down in the 40's on that par 29.

68 through 9 holes in absolute pouring rain. We had all paid up front and travelled a fair way had a 3 course meal waiting. It eventually stopped on hole 10 and ended up with 118 my worst score ever. I haven't been any worse than 109 which I shot a little while ago lost 5 balls in that score as well.

my first 9-hole, played alone, 89 on a par 36.

kept on topping and shanking every single shot, whereas at the driving range I almost never shanked!

this happened to me every time I went on the course, for at least the 10 first rounds, drove me crazy, but I don't like quitting.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
