What would happen if I got a dynamic gold s300 shafts soft stepped once? What would it cause the shots to do. my swing speed is 82 with a 6 iron and the shaft optimizer recommended soft stepping a stiff shaft. Or do you think I shouldnt soft step the shaft?

Try hitting the s300 standard in the club head you are interested in and see how it goes. If you like the flight and don't think it is too stiff leave it.

I don't know what "soft stepping" a shaft does, but I wanted to share something my fitter informed me about DG S300 shafts. I currently use that shaft on my irons and he was saying that "about 95 out of 100 amateurs aren't a right fit for this shaft". His reasoning was that amateurs don't create enough whip with their irons to truly realize the benefit of DG S300 shafts. For point of reference, I'm 27 years old with a "relatively higher" swing speed and he still didn't like me with that shaft.

Well I think that might be true to a certain point. I was told if you swing atleast 80 mph then its good for you. Really its about if you like low ball flight then they are a great shaft to use, prolly the best. Most clubs use these shafts, I have a cleveland wedge that has it for its standard shaft and your irons have it on them. Club makers wouldnt use them in their clubs as standard if 95 out of 100 amateurs couldnt use them which is the majority of people that will buy clubs from makers.

Sure they would. Club makers are out to make money. DG shafts are the least expensive.

haha, I doubt that is the main reason club makers use it. There is alot of research and feedback that goes into which shaft to use.

Did play it last year for the first time and it is awesome.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
