Hey all.
Thought I would share this tip my PGA club pro showed me today. We were practising short game techniques & near the end of the lesson I asked him how the top pros get the ball to within a dime or chip in the cup from the first cut around the green.
He picked up a 7 iron, & held the shaft in an almost vertical position with the heel of the club well off the ground to prevent the heel edge catching the grass. He then used a strong putting stroke from off the toe which lifted the ball several feet before running & checking to the hole. Within 3 goes I was doing the same.
For anyone struggling with chipping from the fringe & still using the putter try this, I was amazed at how accurate it was. Just remember to lift heel of iron to create a vertical almost putting like address & use your normal putting stroke (ie: no wrist hinging). Helped me...hope it helps you too

I read something similar on Golf Digest, on thight lies bring the wedge in close to lift the heel a bit and clip the ball with the toe of the club. Worked well for me, it actually helped me think about the club face possition during the swing.
