I started golfing few months ago, looking for a decent putter to replace the one i have. I found a guy selling a 2006 model scotty cameron newport 2 for $190 shipped. Is this is a steal or should i keep looking?

That really depends on the condition of the putter. If it hasn't been taken care of, I'd think twice. If it looks to be in cherry condition, then it's not a bad deal.

What a few of us here have been doing is buying used Scotty's that need some work and sending them in to the Cameron Custom Shop, who can perform a restoration for $110.

like Rago said..depends on condition..I assume that's a stainless studio style NP2..me..for $190.. it had better be NEW to extremely MINT . It's on the high end for anything less.

For that price it should also have all the bells and whistles in tact..i.e. the "atomic red" headcover WITH pivot/divot tool..mint/new It should not be altered in anyway. The grips should be correct (dancing Cameron studio style)..no aftermarket stuff. The shaftband should be there with no frayed edges..

basically..I'd expect NEW or a hair shy of it..IMHO
