looking at cutting the shaft down to 33.5 in, i have heard that this will mess the balance of the putter up, is this true?

I cut my Newport down from 35" to 34". since it was a few grams lighter due to the 1" cut off, I just installed a Winn putter grip that was a few grams heavier and now the club weight and feel remained the same. Only difference I noticed was a better stroke and more putts made under 10'. If you plan on using a SC grip then you could back weight the shaft the same amount of weight that was cut off and try that.

it WILL feel lighter..what is the headweight on the SD#5..lol..I have one and I don't even know..mine is stock 35" though and it feels perfect..like I said it will feel lighter.

For example a 35" Red X is 330g, 34" is 340g, 33" is 350g..but they all have the same swingweight since the headweight gets adjusted.

im thinking about going to a winn midsize pistol grip, since they are about 10 grams heavier, so that should do the trick... thanks for the help guys!
