Has anyone played Pine Forrest in Bastrop, TX? To date it is my favorite course. Just wanting to hear golfers opinions of this course.

Great golf course with some dramatic and beautiful holes. In college, we would drive to Bastrop to treat ourselves to great, uncrowded golf (compared to Austin). The Bastrop courses had lots of shade from all the trees which was a relief from all the heat June/July/August.

We had a rotation of Pine Forest, Lost Pines, and Colovista. I think Colovista closed a few years back, hope it reopens.

Pine Forest is my favorite course. I drive up from Houston to play it about every other month. Awesome views and the price is right.

+1 dave. Pine forrest is one of the most scenic golf course I have ever played on. I also like the fact that none of the holes intertwine with each other.

    • Lately, I feel that sometimes I stand over the ball a little too long and I twitch my shoulders like a spaz. I have been playing really well, but feel that I need to get set and go. There is always something to improve on.
    • Things are moving quickly this season and I just knocked off the hardest hole on the back nine. I have the number 1 handicap hole still on the list and two others. Since early retirement, this playing 3 times a week is working out pretty well!

    • Day 35 (26 Feb 25) - Day of easy work (hanging around the house as son had shoulder surgery and I needed to help keep an eye on him).  Worked on low spinner 50deg wedges - keeping the ball low flighted and checking quick.  Went with the 8i after to do low flighted runners.  Great visit on two ways to get the same/similar results.  May be able to get away tomorrow for a short 9hole round (as long as the son's recovery cooperates).....
    • Day 1: 2/26/2025: So, I'm starting over on this again.  My son brought home the mother of all flu bugs from school. It raged though our house and knocked me on my butt for about 3 days.  Now, that I think I'm clear of the death plague my son gave me. I was able to rise early this morning and get some nice mirror work in. I felt stiff like a board for the first few swings, but loosened up and was able to get at least 20 minutes of first robotic slow swings and then gradually more fluid swings.  My focus was on the timing and fluidity of my priority pieces.
