I'm a big fan of the hybrids. I carry a 19* hybrid instead of a 5 wood. I can hit it out of the rough that way, and I just seem to hit it far more solid.

It all depends on your preferred way to swing. Hybrids are more upright, and if in longish grass or if hit a little fat, they can go left pretty easily. Don't get me wrong here, hybrids are great choices for many golfers, but I prefer a small headed 5 wood now. I finally found a virtually new Steelhead 5 wood with the Memphis 10 shaft, and it is super easy to hit. The key to the old steelheads and warbirds was a small head and very rounded sole, so hitting out of rough just ball high (or a tad more) is not difficult. Try a 5 wood and see if you like it -- mine seems to get through light rough easily, where my hyrid would tend to flip closed a bit more due to the upright flatter sole of the hybrids. Need to change my signature to reflect that the hybrid is currently in the penalty box.
