I'm a former left handed tennis player with a pretty strong one-handed backhand stroke. I adopt the same technique (see below) to my right handed golf swing.

Firm left wrist throughout down swing (back of left hand pointing at target at impact) + weight shift to left leg + hip rotation + shoulder turn.

Meanwhile, my right arm and hand are pretty passive in my swing. They just follow the left arm lead.

So I'm 99% positive that my left wrist doesn't break down for my full swing. (Half swing is a totally different story.) If my left wrist is firm, can I assume I'm maintaining the flying wedge? Or is it totally irrelevant?

My guess that it may be a good indicator. But really, you maintain your flying wedge, if you maintain your flying wedge. That includes the relatively flat left wrist, it's relationship with the club and the bent right wrist. I used to think about it as keeping a firm left wrist, but I've found that maintaining the flying wedge is largely dependent on the quality of your pivot. If you think it breaks down with a half swing, you may be mistaken about the feeling your getting with the full swing. Video would help.

Thanks.

You can find the video in another thread. http://thesandtrap.com/forum/threads...ing-(acegolfer ) The reason why I ask this is because being a lefty, I have more control with my left hand than with right hand. Specifically, I can tell my left hand to be firm but I can't tell my right hand to maintain the wedge. Imagine shooting a basket ball with your other hand and you will understand what I'm saying. I have very little control over my right hand. So if firm left wrist = maintain flying wedge, then I can achieve it by controlling my left hand.
