I apologize if this as been discussed before, but I am curious how much money does this average guy on tour receive for being a taylor made, titleist or nike equipment pro etc. I know most guys struggle to make the cut so I would be interested to see how much they are pulling in on the sponsorship alone.

There is a wide variance of course, but well known but not hugely successful players will get several hundred thousand dollars per year and the bigger names will get several million dollars per year, with bonuses for winning.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

And the local pro playing regional comps may not even get all his equipment free. A pal of mine (pro) qualified for the british open about 3 years ago (Birkdale) Taylor Made approached him on the range and invited him to come to the tour van he came away with everything he wanted, but no cash and finished the first 2 days 1 place from last, John Daly was last.

He's got a great story about how he bested John Daly in the Open, got hooked up with Taylor Made, and then sold it all on Ebay. Ok, I made the Ebay part up but a lot of guys in the club ranks have done it on the down low.

Uh, what did he come away with? Afterall, he already had his equipment by that time. Did they give him a couple of boxes of TM balls?
