What can I expect out of a heavy grafite shaft in my driver. I have one in my 3-wood and it feels great & I hit it sweet. usually as far & straighter than my driver. All the drivers these days seem to be as light as they can get them. Seems like even though you swing em faster, there's no distance cause there's just nothing there at contact. It's like a voltswagen going 100 mph hitting the same thing as a truck going 70. which one will do the most damage?

I play 75g shafts in my drivers, and have tried an 85g. I find them much more stable, much less dispersion on less then perfect swings. I usually get quite a bit less spin as well, and a lower trajectory...all the characteristics you'd expect from the heavier shaft.

I like the boardier feel of the heavy shafts, it helps me feel where the clubhead is in the swing. Also, works better with my quick transition.

I think heavier shafts make the ball launch lower. My 3W is 16* but has a steel shaft and it launches like my driver off the fairway (great for par 5's).

My driver has a 57g shaft but the head is pretty heavy, I think manufacturers are trying to put more weight behind the ball.
