This is my most recent video from GolfTec. I am working on hinging my wrists up in the takeaway to keep the clubhead on the shaft plane during the takeaway, turning my shoulders more and sliding my left hip over the outside of my left foot before impact. I go from hitting it pretty well to feeling like I can't get my hands through at impact, resulting in blocks to the right.

I am interested to hear any criticisms. Thanks. My handicap is now 7.9 and is going to get higher. My last four scores are 77, 88, 88 and 89.

No comments or criticisms? When I do hit driver well, it's a pull-fade. When I hit driver badly, it's a push-slice. Not fun.

My comments:

- Not sure what club you're hitting, but if it's a mid-iron, the club is too vertical and it looks like you have your weight slightly behind and titled right. Shaft should have a little lean forward and you should be centered (and more level) over the ball.
- At the start of the swing in the DTL view, do you pull your hands closer to your body? There's some little weird move there.
- You're leaning back at impact. You have your hands slightly ahead of the ball only because your left elbow has bent. It's probably related to your setup.
- Personally, I would like to see less wrist hinge. I think it has the benefit of using more large muscles and less wrists and arms (less flipping and chicken winging).

Good luck.

6-iron. You mean the club is too vertical at address, right? I see that too. The instructor wants me to hinge my wrists up and make my hands pass over my back foot during the takeaway. The idea is to get my backswing flatter at the top while not sucking the club too far to the inside on the takeaway, which he says keeps me from turing my shoulders more. I know in the Stack and Tilt book, one of the pros (Axley?) is quoted saying that he tries to make his hands pass over his right foot. Going back, the instructor doesn't want my left arm vertical to the ground in the down the line view; he wants it closer to my body. When I put a pen on the shaft at address from down the line and then look at the takeaway, the club appears to stay on plane. But I could be missing something for sure. Otherwise, I would be hitting it better. I'm bummed to see that I'm leaning back. I am trying to slide my left hip over the outside of my left foot - another Stack and Tilt idea. I'm not trying to use my hands or wrists at all during the downswing. How do I get the hip slide right?

Iacas, what do you see? Thanks.

- You do a good job with the hands going in, while the club stays out. I don't have any issues with that. The strange move is probably just your hands moving inward.
- I'm not sure what you mean by "the instructor doesn't want my left arm vertical to the ground in the down the line view; he wants it closer to my body." Is that at address? The start of the backswing? Somewhere else?
- Really, I think you have a lot of good movement in your swing. Your impact position is similar to your address position. Consequently, if you setup with your weight slightly more forward, your shoulders a bit more level, and the club leaning slightly forward, I believe it will translate into better contact.

Sorry. When looking at my takeaway from the down-the-line view, he wants my left arm to stay close to my body so it is closer to parallel with my torso instead of having my left arm hang straight down and farther away from my body.

I went back to the Stack and Tilt book last night and read about what they recommend for hitting a draw. Here it is: face open, ball back, weight forward. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow at the range before my Sunday round. I wish there was a Stack and Tilt instructor in the Chicagoland area.

    • @Philip Belgium,  If I haven't already, Welcome to TST.  Your injury sounds serious and I hope you fully recover.   Thanks for sharing your story.  ..... each day get 1-2% better.   (A ray of sunshine and a positive outlook)
    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
    • We agree here. Top of the car has a forward force, bottom of the car experiences a backward force via the braking. Both about the COM (somewhere in between). Result is a rotational flip. Since the forward force is still higher the car probably still globally travels forward. Sure, pretty basic. You really think there are deliberate twist forces applied? Like forcing the club head forward and simultaneously forcing grip end in the opposite direction? Heck I don't think we even slow down the grip end deliberately let alone force it the other way. Sorry, if I am missing something here. The orientation change is simple incidental because there is different rate of global movement of grip vs. clubhead throughout the swing. I also happen to think the best swings have the least amount of differential movement between the two end in the impact zone.  In my defense, I never thought one could do justice in covering all aspects of a golf swing in a paragraphs or two to begin with. Especially not with grade school physics..😜 Okay.
