I bought a new TM Tour Burner last weekend, and I finally got to play with it at the range. I realize that I am in the honeymoon phase and all, but I have never hit a single club so many times in the sweet spot. Out of 25 balls that I hit with the driver 20 were in the center. My miss hits, as you can guess, were only when I was trying to punish the ball (125% swing), but hey you have to try just to see. On normal (80-90%) swings I was hitting it nice and flush.

So, why was I able to hit it so nicely, when with my old driver I mostly hit towards the hosel?

My 17* 4 Wood arrived today and I just got back from the range. Was disappointed to have the hooksies with it and even with good shots still wasn't getting the carry I get with my 21* hybrid. Oh well, guess I'll just keep swinging for now until I get comfortable with it...

nuck have u ever hit gigas woods. I may try one of their fairway woods to see how it hits. I never have hit my 3 wood well as I have just learned to hate it. I normally hit a 3iron now instead and suffer in some aspects. Also I have a giga wedge coming this week so Im excited to see how it feels.

No I sure haven't. I contacted them about a 4 wood, but they said they didn't make any. I have a hybrid of them and never got comfortable with it so I just bought a used Nickent to replace it that I like much better. I am a huge fan of the irons I have though.

It's funny you mention the wedges. My club purchase next month was going to be two SGS wedges from GigaGolf. I'm really curious to hear a new model is coming, please let me know what you think of the wedge...

    • Day 14: 2026.01.16 Some swings late in the day to confine trying to embed the hip rotation I'm working on.
    • I don't know what to tell you. You can't test wedges with range balls, and you have a LOT more info to gather before you can begin to really even test anything else, either.
    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
