I'm thinking about getting a 20* taylormade burner hybrid.

From the rough i think it'd be more accurate than my 3i, i'll still keep the 3i in the bag.

What do you guys think of these hybrids?

I mean I've never hit one, but I do like my 4i 5i Hybrids for hitting out of the rough instead of with my irons.. I have a 4 iron and 5 iron but, usually use them with better lies.

Driver: adams.gif Speedline 9032LS RIP Shaft (Stiff)

3 Wood: adams.gif Oviation 3Wood

Hybrids: taylormade.gif Rescue 18* 3H - 22* 4H

Irons: callaway.gif X-24 Hot Irons 5-PW

Wedges: cleveland.gif CG15 52, 56

Putter: odyssey.gif PT 82

Ball:  e6

The only thing I can say with a hybrid in the rough is analyze the lie really well. I do use my 19 out of the rough but if its a weird lie of any kind, I'll stick with an iron. If the rough is thick, Iron. If the ball is sitting down, iron. If the rough is really tall and somehow the ball is sitting on top, iron.

I hate the Burner hybrids! I bought a 3H and 4H not realizing,(my fault), that they are set to a 4 degree draw position. They are not marketed as a draw club but I should have checked the spec. I always hook them badly even though my normal shot is a fade. I'm not bad mouthing TM, I play R7TP irons and a Burner driver. My hybrids are Hogans.

I tried it out today and loved it!

Tried a R flex and S flex, my SS was 88mph with it so i stuck with the S. I was ripping it 180m (200 yards) with a slight fade. My dispersion was also really good.

the one i got was really neutral, maybe even fade biased slightly. I think i got a different hybrid than you.

I'm really happy i bought it, and it was only 70 euro!

Yeah, my TM burner 07 19* is set to a draw position. I didn't find that out until I started hooking today. It is extremely hard to hit a fade with it. But hooking it around a corner is a simple breeze. If I could find a club repair shop that could bend it to 15* (highly unlikely), then it would be square.

In the bag:
Driver: 907 D2/Proforce V2 R-flex
Hybrid: Burner '07 3 Hybrid/Re-Ax Shaft/19* (4* draw bias)
Irons: AP1 4-7i

I have a Taylor Made Rescue Mid #3 19* and it,s one club that I could not live without. If I could only find a #2 16* I would most likely retire the Mizuno #3 wood. I like the older 06,07 Mid rescue models better than the newer ones.

In My Cart Bag R 5 XL Driver Rescue Mid #3-19* 3,7 F50 Fairway Woods CG 4 , 4-PW irons all Reg Flex. MP-T 56* 60* wedges Anser G2 Putter. AD333. DT SoLo Balls ..

Sorry to get a little off-topic here but I thought an 88 mph SS was better suited for a R flex. Or is that just for driver SS?

Thanks for that info. I just bought the same two clubs and I am having the same problem. It didn't even occur to me that they were a draw club. I have noticed that the clubhead is closed at approach and was convinced that for some reason I was over gripping the club. My shot is already a slight draw and I never would have bought them knowing they were 4* closed!! Man I feel like a real bone-head now and actually a little ticked that they are not marketed as a draw club.

I got my information straight from TM customer service. I did demo the clubs before buying but obviously not enough. I guess I learned a valuable lesson.

That's for driver SS, I was impressed i was getting 88mph out of it though.

GUys if it makes a difference it was the rescue, not a hybrid. But i think they're the same thing?

The terms are often used interchangeable, however Taylor made has two models called "hybrids", two models called "rescue", and one called "raylor".

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
