I've struggled with a huge slice for years both lefty and righty, and haven't had much success with a strong/weak grip. The best results come with a strong grip when I focus on my bottom hand squaring up at impact. 90% of the time my natural tendency is to hold on to the lag and hit the ball with a very open face and strong top hand. The more I strengthen my grip the more I hold on to it and the worse my release gets.

I've played hockey for 15+ years and was wondering why I can hit a moving puck perfect every single time but can't even hit a golf ball sitting still. I grabbed my hockey stick and took my grip just to see what differences there were. Turns out my natural grip is my top hand very strong (thumb supporting the back of the stick) and a weak bottom hand. Put the back of your top hand facing the target and turn it 60*, then put the bottom hand on where it normally would be with a neutral grip (target line going perpendicular through the back of the hand). I did this grip and took a couple swings and was amazed at how easy it was to turn the clubface through impact. I got both the sensation of holding my top hand off and squaring the face with the bottom hand.

I haven't had a chance to hit balls yet (going to go as soon as I get off work) but was wondering if anybody else has a strange grip like this? The one issue I have is that it doesn't fit together very well (in hockey your hands are split so it's different) so I may have to use a 10 finger grip or move my thumb around.
