I've heard the term of "getting the club stuck behind you." What does this mean and what is the effect? Is a certain type of golfer prone to this fault?

I'm asking because sometimes when I'm practicing I'll make what I think is a good swing and the ball will slice dramatically. Just scoots off to the right very low. Happens most often with my wedges and if I do it once, it will often repeat until I put the club down, walk away for a couple of minutes or pick up a new club. Someone mentioned to me that perhaps the club was getting stuck behind me.

I expect it's because I just made a lousy swing, picked my head up, etc.
