Bone spur in left hip joint!!! How to play pain free?

Well I have just found out that I have a Bone spur in my left hip. I'm right handed and everyonce in a while my hip will kill me after I go to the range. Is there anything I can do to help the pain?? Or should I just give up on golf?? I'm trying to find a better swing tempo that might be better for it. Thanks

It seems you'd want to ask that question of the person who diagnosed your bone spur.

That said, FWIW I was diagnosed with arthritis in my right hip several years ago, and have kept it under control by building up the muscle around it (as my physical therapist explained, that helps to cushion the bone-on-bone action), and with ice packs when it gets bad. Not sure if any of that applies to your situation - only a professional health care provider can answer that.

Sorry to hear about the hip. Firstly don't give up on golf. My grandfather is still playing at 90 so if he can you can!

There are a couple of things. Firstly you must keep good flexibility in your glute (bum) muscles. Second is that if the worst comes to the worst surgery is pretty straight forward for a bone spur and sucess rates are high. Have you considered this? Good luck and don't throw in the towel yet!

Talk to your doctor about the risks/benefits of a fluoroscopically guided hip injection. You might need a referral to a interventional pain specialist. Takes about seven minutes to do the injection correctly, and I've seen really good results.
