Has anyone tried using a larger grip to help promote a fade (right handed)? I use a M/L Cadet players glove and am used to playing standard GP tour velvet grip, but I’ve been reading / hearing how a larger grip reduces your hands turning over. That’s my miss, I miss it left and when I get super handsy I start hooking the ball. It’s been something that I’ve been trying to work on for the past 3 years quieter hands, but it’s been so long that I actually want to start fading the ball naturally.

So my question is, “is going to a midsize grip a bad thing to do?” Although I’ve already done it, I wanted to get some feedback from the guys on the forum. I have a 503h with a midsize grip and I love it, but it just feels weird with the driver. It feels like the club is more in my hands than in my fingers and that my grip isn’t right. As for performance with the driver it was going straight, but it didn’t feel like I got all of it like I was swinging slower (additional grip weight.) Maybe I’m just not used to it?

Also MWT: Is 2 grams of weight in either port really going to make that much of a difference? And does going from 12 grams (stock weighting) to 18 grams hurt or help?
I’m not the most flexible guy because of lifting weights, but I like the weight because it helps me smooth out my swing. I also figured: Force = Mass x Acceleration, and since I probably couldn’t up my acceleration due to being non-flexible I could up the mass and ultimately increase the force.

I have a driver swing speed of 107 and a ball speed of about 152 (something like that,) I think I carry the ball 250 with about 30-40 yards of roll (I don’t hit the ball that high)

Sorry for the ramblings guys, but I just want to get the most out of my driver since I hit on almost every hole that isn’t a par 3. I’ve become a bomb it (not that I bomb it) and look for it kind of player.

I'll give you the short answer to each of your questions.

First, MWT: 2 grams here or there probably won't matter much. It can very subtly tweak stuff, but "the lefts" typically require a more aggressive tweak. 4-6 grams may do it. If your driver is 2-8-8-2 then you may want to go 2-4-8-6 or something.

As for the grip size, it can't hurt to give it a try. Worst case it'll cost you $4 to get it put back. Like you said, the concern may be getting the grip too far into your palms and not keeping it out in your fingers. You'll want to make sure you're not decreasing your lag or other forms of wrist action: just limiting the rate at which your wrists can close the clubface.

    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
    • The criticisms are starting already 🤣 U.S. Open pro criticizes Shinnecock green conditions: 'Bumpy' After playing his first practice round at the 2026 U.S. Open, Michael Kim offered a less-than-glowing review of Shinnecock's "bumpy" greens.   The sand, I don't care about that. If the greens didn't come back as well for latest aerification, that would be a bit of a blunder on Shinnecock I think.
    • Well, if your frame of reference spins twice during the swing, then Bryson's ab/adduction is more like 780 degrees so there! (Yes I'm being silly, but not sure it's any sillier than what your pal Andy is doing...)
    • Update: Brandon Sorsby has decided to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. He will not play for Texas Tech in the upcoming season.  From my perspective, I think he did the right thing. I hope he gets the correct help for his gambling addiction. I say the right thing, because I would be worried that the stress from all of this now and throughout the entire year would not be beneficial towards his mental health.  If an NFL team picks him up, then there really isn't any pressure for him to play immediately. He can work on himself and his game for the NFL.  From Texas Tech,  "Texas Tech will continue to provide the support and recovery resources Brendan requires on this journey. Furthermore, Texas Tech will not seek return of any amounts already paid to Brendan through his NIL agreements with the University," Campbell wrote. "We wish our best to Brendan, and we offer our prayers to him and his family as he chases his dreams at the next level. This has been an unbelievably painful experience for us all, but I know that his true, underlying character and lessons learned through this experience will ultimately bring him great success on the field of play and in life." Which, I also the right thing to do.
