So a while, I got lucky and my Grandfather got me a new set of Srixon i-701's. They're great irons, and I love them, but i was 14 at the time. I've grown about 7 inches since then, and now I'm 6'2".

My problem is, the clubs, especially 7-PW, are much too short, which is changing my posture and swing. The clubs are a half inch shorter than standard, and I need 1 inch plugs, according to an online club fitting system. So since I need the extra half inch to account for the irons being short, I planned on putting in 1 and a half inch plugs, so my question is...

Will 1 and a half inch plugs ruin the integrity of the shaft, and make them harder to play?

I think your best bet would be to bring them to a club fitter and have him check it out.
You could always do one club and then go practice with it. If you like it do them all, if you don't then re-shaft the irons or get new ones.

Take this with a grain of salt though I know nothing about adding plugs to a shaft, it is just a thought.

If extensions are installed properly, you'll be fine, but I wouldn't go much more than that 1.5" tho'.. Not sure what you mean by "plugs"?

entending your clubs will make your clubs slightly weaker. its hard to feel but when frequencied it will be slightly weaker simply because it is a longer shaft. also, adding plugs will raise the overall weight of the club slightly and may change the swing weight. i personally have my clubs extended 1" over standard and like the way they feel. again, the differences are minor and a better spine angle will help you play better, i'm all for it.
