I'm going to go ahead and say "not much." What would it do?

I would think it would speed up thier research and development period. With Nike annouceing their squard head driver first along with getting a winner before any other company.

I'm going to have to say I agree with Erik here. I just don't see this making much noise with the end of the season upon us. Maybe if he had won the Tour Championship with it, it would have made a little noise. But in the end I think the win doesn't even make a ripple in the market

Dbake, I'm not saying that there isn't a shot for the club to make waves right now. However, this really isn't the best time for Titleist to push the new equipment with winter on its way (or here in some areas). The club is pretty sick, though.

Well I will bet Nike is tickled pink and I am sure this won't hurt upcoming Sumo sales. I have to agree with Dbake, this will do at least something for sales. You know Nike's marketing team will be capitalizing on this.

Just a clarification, though: he didn't WIN with the square one, right? He won with the SUMO2.

As soon as I'm done editing it, the front page will have Bag Drop column on these drivers from Callaway and Nike.

The rumor on the street is Titleist and Cobra will be release new drivers this feb/march.

It looks like the Acushnet Company is looking to get a peice of the pie. I know I know some of you don't like rumors (Eric), but what the hell it keeps everyone exciting durning the winter.

That's more along the lines of common sense. Titleist and Cobra seemingly always release new clubs around March. And August.

Please don't put words in my mouth (or at least spell the name correctly, eh?

). David Toms is leaving Cleveland. Not quite a top-10 player, but close.

Yes they do release clubs in those months but on a two year cycles, the 905R was released around last March, 1 year...although the S and T have reach their two year cycle.

Exactly. The 905 line is two years old now. Errr, in March.

    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
