I have a question, I am bidding on some MP52's and they are 2deg up and 1" longer than standard with mid-size grips.

Now the 2deg up is fine for me (3deg up and .25" long is my Ping fitting) but I only need .25" long so I am planning (if I win the auction) to get them re-gripped to standard size grips, whilst doing this I was gonna get the length cut by .75" on all the shafts so they would all be .25" (quarter inch) long.

Will this affect the swing weight or mess anything up?

Anyone?

I could always grip down when I use them, but I guess this would have the same affect on swing weight etc as cutting .75" off the shaft?

i dont know what effect it would have. Find out and if it has an effect you can always pick up dg s300 shafts for pretty cheap with grips already installed. If you read online it seems pretty easy to instal your own shafts.

Not spending anymore cash on shafts lol, I want to get them re-gripped anyway so will speak to the club fitter at my pro shop about him cutting them so they are .25" long when they do the grips.

well you are going to be spending money on grips and installation. My point was use that money instead on a used set of shafts with grips already installed. Look for a set with grips you like and install the shafts yourself. That is if it makes a difference when cutting them.

I hear ya, but I can get grips for £3-5 each including fitting and they will not charge me much to cut the shaft butt down, so that will be way less than I could get a set of second hand DSG S300 shafts for and get them fitted properly, even then the swing weight would change anyway, if it will at all, as you said

If you buy stock clubs, they don't worry about the swing weight at all when adding extensions, so I'd assume the same logic applies in reverse - i.e no effect.

Cobra - Speed Pro 8.5º X-Flex, Speed Pro 13º S-Flex | Mizuno - MP CLK 20º Hybrid, MP-67 DG S300 4-PW | Cleveland - CG10 52º,56º, 60º | Rife - Antigua Island 34"

oh ok, yea I wouldnt be concerned with the swing weight as much as how the flex and feel is going to change. That was my concern

They are not stock clubs though are they if they are 2deg up and 1" longer shaft, they are custom, so maybe they adjust the swing weight based on this customisation?

    • Hi everyone, I'm looking to improve my driving distance. I’ve been playing golf for a few years now, and while my accuracy has gotten better, I’m still struggling to get the distance I want off the tee. I play regularly with both men and women, so any advice that applies to both would be fantastic. For some context, I’ve tried adjusting my stance and swing, but I feel like I might be missing some key golf techniques or drills. Has anyone here successfully increased their driving distance? What specific tips or changes worked for you? Whether it's about grip, posture, swing mechanics, or even mental approach, I’m open to all suggestions! Looking forward to hearing your experiences and advice! Thanks!

    • I don't know… The TaylorMade Tiger Woods grinds were decent. I like narrow soles with a lot of bounce (lots of camber) and good heel/toe relief.
