With winter coming up and a bunch of demo days being scheduled at the local indoor range, I'm looking for some suggestions as to what irons I should be looking to demo. I don't actually read a lot about equipment so I'm looking for a few suggestions in the 'category' that I'm looking in.

Currently I play mp52's w/ x100.

Likes: Feel and look. A well struck ball with these feels awesome. I also like the fact that a ball off the toe, heel, thin, or high, I can absolutely tell where the ball struck the face. The only other set of irons I have owned was a set of TM Burners. I was a 15 handicap at best when I stopped playing them. One of the main reasons I stopped playing them was that no matter where the ball struck the face, it felt the same.

Dislikes: They seem a bit short for my SS and the gaps are not as consistent as I'd like. Tend to dig deep with the short irons when I get a little steep, usually playing lower shots.

My standard ball flight is straight. I'll rarely play a shape into a green, but I will occasionally shape around a tree or out of trouble. I take a decent size divot, but I wouldn't say I'm a digger.

So far on my hit list I only have Ping s56 & Titleist AP2. I'm looking for a few other irons that would fit into that category. Oh, and I'm left handed so that not only limits some of my options but makes it difficult to demo.

Thanks!

If you are looking at the S56 why not check out the Ping Anser Forged as well while you are at it. Titleist 710 MB/CB combo while you check out the AP2's. To me either I was hitting the AP2's really well or they lack feedback but overall they feel very nice. Tried them out with KBS Tour x-stiff which seemed to play very similar to my DG S300's for me. Worth it to check out the Mizuno MP-63's and MP-68's, love the look of MP-68's and they definitely give you plenty of feedback.

Saw a set of those Anser Forged today at the course. While I thought they looked pretty nice I wouldn't even consider paying $1300 for them with so many other forged offerings out there. Just my .02

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
