Got out today on the first perfect day of the year. Had plenty of time to warm up at the range finally, I play much better when I can hit a lot of balls to warm up. Also had a lot of time to hit putts and chip before the round which helped as well. Played pretty well, shot an 89 but had two triple bogies

One was a known risk, I flubbed a drive then tried the "hero" shot of drawing a 3wd 250 to the green. I hit it well but nicked a tree limb putting deep into a stand of trees, took a few tries to get out. Second one, we had a long wait on a par 3 and I just felt odd off the tee, flubbed a 6iron into the water and then continued hacking it up. Overall I was a bit erratic off the tee but had a few where tempo and plane were good that were absolutely hammered, the 9015d I played really comes into its own with firmer fairways as it's low spin and really runs out. Irons were tough on the front nine as I had a lot of swing thoughts going, but became strong on the back. Chipping was decent, not great. Putting, for me, was lights out, I had 31 putts....by far the best day I've had with the putter in awhile. One thing I did work on was bump and running a 7iron when I'm short of the green, it's absolutely the way to go for me...no worries of chunking my 52*.

Need more work on not crossing the line at the top with my irons, and I need to hit driver at the range to figure out why I'm getting the hook one swing, fade the next.

    • This isn't going to show you lateral dispersion at all. It's basically just a radar (for speed) launch monitor. It doesn't measure spin or anything like that. Not even launch direction.

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.
