With it being my first year in the club... I'm not really sure how much weather plays a factor. I've been told that in 15 years, only 3 or 4 events have been washed out. The rule is... if the course we are scheduled to play is opened... we play. Period. With that in mind... I'm getting my rain gear ready and HOPING the weather they're calling for isn't as bad as they say it will be. I want to play... end of story.

So, the 3rd event of the season takes us to one of my favorite courses in North Jersey... High Bridge Hills. I've played the course only a few times, but I love the layout. I play poorly there, but... I still love the layout. It's a 'links style' course with a lot of fescue, but this time of the year, I'm willing to bet it's got no teeth because the fescue hasn't grown in. A lot of odd looking holes from the tees... forced carries, severely uphill or downhill shots, things of that nature. Overall, it's just a course that I like to be on.

My partner and I have started out the season 2-0 in doubles. I'm also sitting at 2-0 in singles. By virtue of my strong play early on... my handicap has dropped lower than my partners, making me the low handicap on the team and forcing me to play the low handicap on the other team. The good thing, for now anyway, is that even with my handicap dropping... it's still kind of high, so I get quite a few shots. My course handicap for tomorrow is 24. My opponent has a course handicap of 9. I'll be getting 15 shots... I'll likely need every one of them. As a team, my partner and I are getting 26 strokes (50 Us - 24 Them). Their high handicap guy shot in triple digits for the first time in a LONG time last outing (100 even). If he's struggling... it may bode well for us to improve to 3-0 as a team.

I think, with the weather (which there will be SOME weather, it's just up in the air as to how MUCH)... it'll take a net score of about 68 to win. I'm in the 3rd and final week of my handicap verification period... so I'm still ineligible to win a low net title... but I can still accumulate points (I'm sitting in 7th place through 2 events). I've been playing pretty well recently, so a low 90's score is not out of the question for me. That's my goal.

Week 3 Predictions:

Gross Score = 95
Net Score = 71
Final Position (Net) = 8th Place (Final week of ineligibility)
Match Result (Singles - Match Play) = Win 2 Up
Match Result (Doubles - Team Net Stroke Total Match Play) = Draw

I'll be back tomorrow with (hopefully) results. If it's rained out... luckily, our next event is only a week away instead of the typical 2 week wait.

'Til then...
