Same drill this week, worked on more width and longer backswing again. One of my playing partners that I hadn't played with in awhile said my backswing was ridiculously short and I looked to be trying to control the club too much instead of just swinging the thing.

Quick summary, I basically just worked on pushing the club away on the backswing, and getting a full turn (keyed shoulder under my chin). Picked up 20yds on everything from GW to 3h, that simple. Ball flight looked better, got rid of the weak fade, I was very happy. The old pull/draw came back, but I worked on swinging down the line and it definitely helped. This was just a matter of working on the swing positions too much and gradually just getting the swing too constricted.

Worked driver with the same thoughts and had the best session I've had in a long time. At first I was hitting a big push, but worked on turning my hips towards the target and hit littledraws. Huge increase in distance and pop, felt better lag.

I reshafted my MX700 driver and TEE CB1 3w with Prolaunch Platinums in 65/75g this week and hit them. Nice shafts for $30. Brought ball flight down on the driver, and up a bit on the 3w. Very controlled but smooth, great dispersion, seemed to be low/mid spin. The 3w especially responded, I hit it a ton compared to the old Aldila NV it seemed, higher launch worked for me...but it's still just a mid flight.

    • Day 313 - I played 18 today. First and last holes were ugly, but I actually played pretty well. Driver was great, irons were alright, and the short game was better than average.
    • Day 205 (23 Nov 24) - Worked with the alignment rod and 7i  in reference to ball position in relation to lead foot on full iron shots, noticed an increase in thinned shots last couple of rounds - better contact with the balls (hard foam) during the drill/swing rehearsals.
    • Have you gone to a fitting? A good fitting will not only give you a clubhead but a shaft, etc. that will suit you.
    • It's not like the Nike Vapor Pro are exactly a highly sought set of irons.
    • Last night I was putting my Nike Vapor Pro Irons back in my bag.  I had my sons i500’s in there the last couple months after we all went to Top Golf .  I picked up the Nike’s this past spring and they are like new.  I feel guilty using them… I have other irons that aren’t valuable that I could use instead.
