It’s been a while since I blogged, so I wont make this one too long

It was a measely 12 degrees today, cloudy, sorta windy and a little mist to boot
My business partner called me at 9am and said we have to golf today
Umm…dude, no its sh*tty out, im staying at the office today
He said we HAD to golf as his two buddies wanted to golf w us and whip our a$$es…ok im in

We didn’t have a time, but didn’t think we needed one as it was so crappy out
Off we go…..

Front Nine Break Down -I went 4 par’s in a row…wow pretty good start, considering I left 2 on the lip
-then proceeded to go bogey, birdie (left eagle on the hole, tap in), bogey, bogey, par …WTF just happened there?
-shot 38 on the front
**Highlight – hit the 6th hole, par 5 in two and left the eagle on the lip, tap in birdie

Back Nine Break Down
-very simple and boring….8 pars in a row
-birdied the ninth to go -1….YES FINALLY -1!!!!! 35
-WHERE WAS THIS ON THE FRONT!!!!?????
**Highlight ….well, pretty much the birdie!! Hahah!

My approach shots were just not aggressive enough but I lagged really well
I hit 16/18 GIR and 2 putted pretty much every green ... arrghhh.....

Weird, boring round, but a GOOD round
No doubles, no 3 putts (thank god), no long bomb putts

But it is about time I scored low, it has been waaaaay too long
Drove the ball ok, not great by a long shot
Luck payed a huge part today, as I had good lie’s all day

Well, there it is – my first ½ round under par….now to put a whole round under par
my index is still on the rise, but hopefully this round brings it down a notch

Stay tuned……..

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
