Well i didnt get out yesterday
was calling for rain all day, so we cancelled our time abd sure as sh*t it was sunny and no wind AND WARM
so i settled for hitting 2 buckets of balls instead (which paid off today....sorta)

Temp:
19ºC, partly cloudy, slight 2km/hr wind
Tee'd off at 7:02 am

The Round: Holiday Park Back Tees - 70.1 / 116 Par 71

Hole 1 - PAR - smoked drive, just barely in the right rough. Laid up to 55 yds in, pitched just past hole and 2 putt par.

Hole 2 - BOGEY - Hit it fat and short, shipped on and 2 putt bogey

Hole 3 - Birdie - text book drive, PGA style approach to 4 paces (landed at the hole and released) one putt birdie (this hole is always tough for me, so to bird is huge for me)

Hole 4 - Par - pounded driver over the trees, just barely in the right rough, left about 88 to the hole, put it close to 4 paces and 2 putt par...grrrr....

Hole 5 - DOUBLE - this hole has been giving me the fits all week. Didnt bring enough club, in the water again. Chipped on a nd 2 putt for a double.

Hole 6 - PAR- Nutted drive up the guts, hooked/pulled approach 5i to 60 yds, put it to 1.5 paces and missed birdie for par...man oh man...that should have been mine!

Hole 7 - BOGEY - Nutted 3w, not sure what happened next....I was 118 into a slight breeze, so i hit GW. Hit it pure and flew the green into the trees!!! Chipped out to 4 paces and leaky slider downhill and bogey.

Hole 8 - BOGEY - just off the green in the short stuff about 20 paces to the pin. Hit a bump and run PW to 4 paces and 2 putt bogey.

Hole 9 - BOGEY - nice high cut into the cente of the fwy. Long hole, pin high but in the THICK THICK THICK rough. I was just happy to get it out/.......2 putt Bogey.

Front Nine Score - 40 (Par 35)

Back Nine

Hole 10 - DOUBLE - nutted driver, then proceeded to hit 3 fat shots in a row....long story short, double friggen bogey on a very makeable par 5.......damn...

Hole 11 - PAR - nice high cut again into the right fwy, put my approach from 152 yds, 9i to 1.5 feet. Should have just picked it up and taken the birdie, but missed and par'd.........eff me.

Hole 12 - PAR - perfect 3w up the centre, 126 yds to the pin, nice GW just past the hole to 4 paces. 2 putt par, actually lipped out birdie

Hole 13 - BIRDIE - literally almost holes it, it landed 3" from the hole and released to 1 foot. I made this one!

Hole 14 - PAR - Just barely in the right rough w the 3w. Hit approach a little short (kinda chunky) up and down chip to save par.

Hole 15 - PAR - Perfect high cut in to the fwy (right side) laid up w 8i to 90 yards, hit approach a tad long to about 4 paces and 2 putt par.

Hole 16 - PAR - this hole kicks th sh*t out of me every time i play it. 216 yd par 3. I seriuosly was laying up on this hole, but i pured a 5i to the back...yes back of the green w a friggen 5i. 2 putt par. THANK GOD!!!!

Hole 17 - PAR - Drivable par 4...well sorta, 325yds, but if thw wind is good, you can get there. I laid up w a perfect 3w in the fwy, just a tad short again, up and down chip for par.

Hole 18 - PAR - Nutted drive, but soggy fwy so no roll. Hit 6i just on the front fringe and up and down chip to save par again.

Back Nine Score - 37 (par 36)
Total 18 - 77 (par 71)

Stats for 18

Fwy's Hit - 10 / 13 = 77% VERY HAPPY W THIS ...did i mention i have a new driver coming!!hahahah!
Putts - 30 = 1.66% also happy w this
Putt Distance = 4 paces (missed a lot of putts from this distance - this will be a ket ayrea to focus on)
GIR - 9 / 18 = 50%, improved but could be better
Putts per GIR - 1.88%
Scrambling - 3 / 9 = 33%, need to get this over 50%
Penalties - 1 H20 hazard....again

Highlights of the round - almost holing out on 13, i hit 4 approach shots 1.5 paces from the hole on 4 GIR's....but only made 1 birdie of those

Need to work on my attack angle when its wet, i get steep and it causes some fat shots
also need to watch my hip sway, keep the legs quiet
and putts from 4 paces need some work

Get rid of the two doubles and the penalty stroke and im right at 73...i played like i should have shot 73 too
ah well.....
tomorrow's tee time is 6:35am

until then.....

PS - still no baby....cervix is closed, maybe a "c hair" (!!hahahha!! sorry, had too!!! hahaha) open

enis out

"My swing is homemade - but I have perfect flaws!" - Me

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
