Overdid it at the DRange Saturday and was stiff on Sunday. A small bucket was not enough to warm up the woods and long clubs.

CK and I decided we'd leave them in the bag and just do the Links, links-style, with long irons.

Mixed results — some just real super rewarding shots and a few of my characteristic hooks into dire trouble.

That said, I haven't hit the four iron this well in 2 years, so it was a case of some real nice shots mixed with some bad hooks and marginal hooks.

Hole 7 -- with double water hazards and wetlands OB trouble left and right, all the way down the fairway, I got a fine 4i baby draw to go 210. It hit the first cut rough and still rolled left onto the fairway, leaving a sweet lob to the green and a par attempt. Notice I said attempt.

The second best shot was perhaps a provisional 6 iron baby draw on to the green out of some deepish rough.

Only thing was the 6 iron that I thought might be lost, I nevertheless found in the greenside rough. Nice position, and set up for an even closer lob. Phew! But you know I cold 3 putted that!

Don't practice your putts before hand and pay the piper. We paid, and we paid. The piper is rich.

Lost a bunch of balls, flirting with the edge of danger. Just one of those days. THey were close, but there are places where the fairway is bordered by tall reeds, thick wetland plant life and undergrowth. Go in 2 inches and your ball is gone forever.

That way I collected 5 penalties and came out with a brutal 48 that I still loved for the great long iron work in places.

Went to the Drv. Range after to work on the Woods and Driver. Feeling much better about those clubs now.

Putting needs some intensive work, and I'm by no means out of the woods with the hooking.

Right now my fix is to bring the left foot back an inch to an inch-and-a-half. It seems to work, but makes contact a little less reliable. A matter of getting used to the slightly open stance.

Opposite deal with my driver. For that I use an inch closed stance.

Still have to work on restraint with the long woods and driver. They go far enough with a moderate swing. Tempo is king here.

    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
