Last night after work I decided to go to the range to work on ingraining some in-out swing path thoughts. Most days I start off with my PW work up through Driver going through every even numbered iron. After the driver, I usually go back to a 6 or 7 iron and really focus on good contact. Then I usually spend the last 20-25 balls hitting all my wedges.

Last night the range session went pretty darn well considering how bad I was hitting yesterday. I was hitting most balls with great draws on them, sometimes overcooking the draw the a little too much. The feeling of dropping my arms into the slot and getting stuck were my main focus. My main swing thought was as I rotate my hips on the backswing imagine a rod poking out my right hip. A completed backswing as the rod parallel to your target line in the opposite direction. Then my very first move was pushing my right hip inwards (left hip outwards) towards the target line, letting my arms fall into place and then finally hitting down and through the ball with my hips.

Obviously, I duffed a few shots, but overall I felt confident. The biggest difficulty I'm having is still rushing my to complete my backswing and then not letting it complete. When that happens- I'm all an arms swinger and come way over the top resulting in awful results.

I really want to continue to focus on driving in to out with my legs because I know that hip slide is going to be the key for consistency.

    • Day 313 - I played 18 today. First and last holes were ugly, but I actually played pretty well. Driver was great, irons were alright, and the short game was better than average.
    • Day 205 (23 Nov 24) - Worked with the alignment rod and 7i  in reference to ball position in relation to lead foot on full iron shots, noticed an increase in thinned shots last couple of rounds - better contact with the balls (hard foam) during the drill/swing rehearsals.
    • Have you gone to a fitting? A good fitting will not only give you a clubhead but a shaft, etc. that will suit you.
    • It's not like the Nike Vapor Pro are exactly a highly sought set of irons.
    • Last night I was putting my Nike Vapor Pro Irons back in my bag.  I had my sons i500’s in there the last couple months after we all went to Top Golf .  I picked up the Nike’s this past spring and they are like new.  I feel guilty using them… I have other irons that aren’t valuable that I could use instead.
