Yesterday we got to play a practice round just to get used to the feel of golf season I guess, IDK. Anyhow, it turned out to be the worst round of golf (9 holes) I have played in a year. Anyway here's how the first 9 I played yesterday (played the same nine again right after practice....but we'll get to that) went down.

1- Top my drive 30 yards, hit a hybrid 150 out of thick rough, iron to the bottom of the hill (where the green is). chip on the green, three putt for double
2- Push an 8 iron on a 130 yard par 3, chip bounces once (on a perfect line) then checks and stops. Two putt for bogey.
3- Good drive, Par
4- Push my drive, pull a 6 iron from 155 into a grassy/mud area, double bogey
5-Push my 3 hybrid, punch out, on and 2 putt, bogey (I am now +6)
6- Don't remember for some reason, but remember making bogey
7- Drive goes into trees, punch out, push a PW onto far side of green, double. (+9)
8- On the Green in 1 (par 3 100 yds) 3 putt from 15 feet. bogey (+10)
9- The only good hole really. Par 5, on in 3, par. (+10)

So I shot a 47. The worst in a month. Now let's see the change of only 1/2 an hour when I played the same 9 again.

1- Good drive, topped 3W, bogey (+1)
2- On the green (par 3) make a 20 footer for birdie (E)
3- Hit a dead straight drive, slight push w/ a PW, par (E)
4- Identical to first time around (+2)
5- 3W to the 150 marker, on in 2, par (+2)
6- Good drive, good hybrid, short w/ PW, chip to 5 feet, par (+2)
7- Good drive, pull a 7 iron from 148 onto a cart path, relief shot into a bunker, double (+4)
8- On the green (par 3) 3 putt from 30 feet (+5)
9- Good drive, in the bunker in 3, make up and down for par (+5)

Second round score: 42.
That's more like it. Tee Time of 12:20 again today for a "round for score" Hopefully I play like my second round
A four foot putt to win never gets any less terrifying.

If I ever get happy with myself for finishing 12th or 15th, someone needs to put my clubs away and I'll take up tiddlywinks.

    • No…? When we edit the title of topics, a little note appears.
    • Rush or delay your own pace and you are probably going to suffer in the long run. PGA pro are well oiled machines that work on an specific pace, it's not surprise that if you move them out of their normal routine things are going to go sideways. I normally don't rush shots, but I sometimes delay the trigger if I'm not feeling it. The result is a lack of athleticism, I kind of get a little stiff and I could loose some yards and accuracy.
    • It seems like the title to this thread may have been edited. Super hilarious BTW.
    • Argentina: I read about the 3 or 4 clubs challenge in several countries. Here in Argentina, once a year, on several clubs, "Torneo de Brujas" (The witches tournament) is played. It consist on the same concept, only 4 clubs are allowed but the difference is that only woman can play it. What amaze me is that the winning scores are almost the same as if they were playing with all 14 clubs. Seems like sorcery to me..
