Took some time off to let my back heal a bit -- not much choice really been real busy at work.

But took my arse to the range or the first time in a while.

Well the first bunch of swings were pretty ugly. I also began with 1/2 swings on 4 iron. Tempo was off, distance form the ball was off. Took a while to find it, and switching to a 7 iron helped.

Suddenly ka-boom everything fell back into place. and balls were just flying out there -- to my astonishment a lot further than usual. Suddenly a lot of pured shots one after the other. Only problem, still coming occasionally from too far inside with a closed clubface. That puts enough topspin on a 7 iron to hook it 200 yards on hard ground 155 yds + 45 yds roll.

straightening the backswing and the swingpath is a delicate process, as the change can lead to topping and bad contact. Making swing changes is difficult when the initial results are punishing. It's hard to have faith, until the first good shots come.
And they did.

The key seemed to be tempo and finding the correct distance. With my tempo work, I'm timing the acceleration to increase later in the swing, rather than rush it from the get go, and the results with irons have been very encouraging for the past two sessions.

Part of me even thinks you should teach tempo very early on -- it makes such a difference. Feel like on the verge of a breakthrough. Hopefully the back and other parts will cooperate.

Moved up to 6 iron then 5. all good. Then on to 4 Wood (Adams Tl) not working today. So switched to the Cobra S9-1 5 wood and bingo the club that wasn;t working the previous fortnight, was suddenly hot as hell.

What a joy to hit that one is.
Super hot face, nice dense head with heft. It's like hitting a nail with a sledge hammer rather than a picture framing hammer. I just feel like all I have to do is put the clubhead on the ball and it's going for a long ride.
