What can be said about aerated greens? They suck. especially when they are unsanded Our greens were aerated Monday, and it rained. Practice was cancelled because of that rain that day. The very next day we get one of the best teams in our league: Voorheesville. OH GOODY. We lost to them 168-174 on Aug. 31st at this course: http://www.albanycc.cc/Default.aspx?...id=59887&vnf;=1 Any how we played them again on Tuesday on the aerated greens. It started off as a good round, hitting 4/5 of the first five GIR. but errant 3 putts on the ridiculous greens led to my being +4 thru 5 holes. A double bogey on 7 put my at +7 thru 7. Now, to qualify for sectionals you need to (in my division) shoot a round of +8 (45 at Cobleskill) or better. This means I had to par half my remaining holes. I hit my tee shot on the par 3 8th (100 yards, club: quarter swing pitching wedge) and hit it fat. As it flys through the air, I know it's going to be short, and I'm thinking this could be the end of my qualifier chances....but i got some luck in me. It hit the front of the green and rolled 6 feet forward towards the pin, leaving me a THREE INCH BIRDIE PUTT. It's the closest to a hole in one I have ever had. I drop the putt and go to the last hole at +6. I loose my second shot in the sun and have to take a drop, then three putt for double on the last....to finish an ugly round of +8. But it got me my third of five qualifiers needed to go to sectionals so I guess that's what I had going for that round. On the plus side, I hit the first green (510 yd. par 5) in two (Driver, 4 iron), and pared.

We play Albany Academy tomorrow, a team just as good as Voorheesville. I'll let ya know how it goes.........
