The last few months as my neck vertebrae have betrayed me again, have reminded me golf is a privilege that I can't take for granted.

Last season was cut short in September / October same this year but worse. Yesterday, was MRI day, excruciatingly painful as the laying down position with the head back was pinching the nerve worse.

Had to bail 3 minutes in and the tech finally re-jigged the head wedges for a slightly raised neck position. 20 minutes of intense pain, but tolerable until it was over. I counted my way through it to about 800.

7:15 a.m. Saturday, was the second physical therapy visit,

4 acupuncture sessions already under the belt since the beginning October,

a neurologist visit, and no golf since I bought the new driver.

I long to swing that thing, but looks like I will be sidelined until who knows when?

I had been working on a smoother less intense swing, but not soon enough, I guess. Wife says it's a good looking swing now, as I seek something in-between a Hogan and Fred Couples dynamics, but I'll have to keep the whole thing more compact. I think I'd been extending the driver too far ont he backswing and overdoing it.

That said, it hasn't totally stopped me coaching those who come to me for help (heaven knows why).
I just have to do more with words and less with demonstration (tricky).

I can't imagine playing golf without pain.
But, I know that you are right. It is a privilege.
Hope you do well in your therapy.

I I have also found that my physical struggles have forced me to develop a smooth swing though I am no where Hogans or Couples.
