Hi guys !

I wonder if I could get a little help from the board as to what I should be looking for as

optimum launch angle for a seven iron ,maybe spin rate as well . I have been mulling over

purchasing a new set of sticks this spring and plan to use the simulator at Golf Town as a

benchmark in comparing the list of clubs I am considering . I have never been fit for clubs

before but will try and have this done after I narrow down the list of contenders .

I have been playing golf for 14 years now (started late at 32) and this will be my third set

of clubs in that period . My first set was a complete starter set, Mizuno Altron , which I was

mostly happy with for a while but the woods were poor and I spent my money upgrading the

Driver, 3 wood, putter, and wedges .About 5 years ago I bought a used set of Tarlor Made

Burner Tour Irons. They are basically a blade I think . They have stiff rifle shafts and I play

them well for the most part. The reason I am thinking of a change is that I seem to be

struggling more and more with my long irons (3,4,5) and think I could benefit from added

forgiveness here , I am not ready to go with hybrids because I like to play a lot of different

type of shots out of different situations and don't want to relearn with hybrids.

The short list of sticks I am going to try out . Mizuno mx300,Titleist AP1,Callaway Diablo forged,

Taylormade R9,Mizuno JPX800pro. If any reading this would care to comment on the pros or

cons of the clubs listed I would appreciate that as well .

Anyway thanks in advance for any help or tips ,

Mike

    • How many times does Cameron Young get his big misses to kick out into the fairway this week? Burns at #2:  his second was a penalty (unplayable), punched out, missed his fourth long.   (I asked earlier and now I know, so I'm posting in case anyone else had the question)
    • I was watching a Tiger highlight reel earlier today;  all his eagles at the Masters (all were at par-5s, except one at #14). That and this got me to thinking, what would a Sergio Garcia career highlight reel consist of?  Destroyed tee boxes, damaged tee markers, yelling at rules officials, and spitting in at least one cup. I didn't see Sam Burns's second through fourth shots at #2.  How did he end up off the green for his fifth?
    • Would he be the first winner of the Masters to be banned from Augusta!  Also, come on Sergio, you are a 46 year old over the hill golfer. Go get your Saudi paycheck and chill. You are not that good anymore to get that upset. Go enjoy your "retirement" in LIV.
    • I think this is what you are talking about him doing? Close enough? It could have changed a bit, or maybe he added an extra piece to it, so it might not look exactly the same as this.  Note, this is from 5 years ago, so it is something is just has to always do.
    • That's almost exactly it. And it's something a LOT of players should try to do/mimic/etc.
