Just as I tuned in to Golf Channel tonight Pettersson had the rules official in the bunker on the 9th and was getting a drop. Did anyone catch the ruling because I'm assuming it was a "free" drop and not an unplayable since he made a 6 after 4 more strokes. The telecast never explained anything about it and like I said I caught it a little late.

He simply got free relief from being embedded in his own pitchmark. (It was in a patch of grass high enough on the slope that it was actually not in the bunker.)
