I do use a 7 wood. Love it! Do have a specific question about 7 woods?

does anybody still use a 7 wood? if not what do you use instead>

I had a 5 wood.  Now have moved onto hybrids and have a 4 hybrid.  As I get older a more lofted hybrid and/or 7 and 9 woods will come into my bag.  I have learnt that as swing speed declines, loft is your friend

I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then.

I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,
I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement.

I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.

I used to have a 21 degree Ping 7 wood, but it spun a lot and tended to come up short if there was any headwind or quartering wind.  Replaced it with a 20* Adams Idea Pro Tour Prototype.  Great hybrid and there are still some out there on eBay for decent prices (I think Langer still bags two of them).

I have a set of 3,5,7, and 9    Two sets.   One Cobra SZ with diamana red shafts and Ping G430 with tour 2.0 chrome 65 s shafts.  They are all magnificent.

7 Woods are amazing and so easy to hit

They can be a substitute for a 3 or 4 Hybrid or a 3 or 4 iron

If you don't like Hybrids and you don't like Long irons = 7 Wood is absolute king

I've been more of a 3 & 4 hybrid user.  Did pick up a 7 wood at the local thrift store a while back to have on to toy with.  Its an off-brand so I'm not so sure how it will play.  Interestingly I can hit hybrids pretty well so I've not really seen the need for a 7w but I'm to play nine tomorrow so I will plan to sub out the hybrids for the 7 wood and see how I fare.  As @CoolMan noted if long irons and hybrids are not your thing, then maybe the fairway woods are your thing.   A good friend of mine bags all the way up to 13wood (he's in his mid-80's and uses them to dink his way along - plays his age or better most days).

I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
