Easier irons for HC 7.0

After I lay off of about 15 years I picked up golf last year, had lots of time and practiced at least 5 times a week, played about 3-4 rounds per week and got back to a registrated 7.0 HC now.

I am playing the Mizuno MP-57 with a mix of S-300 (6-PW) and PX 5.5 (3-5) now, but I have three problems ..... less time, less practice time and maybe the current shafts are a bit too stiff.

I am looking for a new or last years set, but let's narrow my prefs .... thin sole, slim to moderate topline, slightly longer blade, a bit more forgiviness on off-center contacts, regular steel shafts, (maybe) forged, no big offset...... I know a lot of prefs ....

Recommendations ..... please advise !

Less expensive options--Adams Pro Black CB-1 or CB-2, Titleist AP-1, mizuno MX300 or MX200

I'm getting the feeling from your post, you currently value forgiveness over feel.  Since you are familiar with Mizunos, take a look at the MX200 and MX300.

I tried the new JPX 800 Pro ..... liked them, but I didn't like the price...... so maybe I should have a look at the MX-300/200 ..... might find some good deals on those.

titleist ap2 for sure. they look great and feel even better. i got 3-pw new with S300 for $600. just takes patience.  highly recommended a must hit.

Recent X Forged both come in as Game Improvement: (2007) MPF = 621 | (2009) MPF = 636

X20 Tour rates as Super GI w/ MPF = 716

X22 Tour has lower rating

Also take a look at Callaway Preowned.

(I use the Maltby six-category club rating system; Golf Digest only uses a 3-caetgory system.)

I just bought a Cobra S2 demo set ...... seems be a great mix of a slightly larger blade, forgiviness and playabillity !

I love my X-Forged Version 2's. Good combo of forgiveness and playability. Endo forged as well.
