First off I'm glad we had 10 people watching it so it only came out to 6 bucks a person.

I was so pumped for this card and it was kind of a huge let down to me.

I thought Jones would beat Bader but I thought it would be the best fight of them all. I was kind of shocked Bader danced around so much normally he likes to get in close and mix it up. I was shocked about how bad Baders take down attempts looked I mean I know Jones is good but I still thought he would end up on his back a few times. Since Jones is getting a title shot now it definitely was a good win but shogun will be a very tall order for Jones to beat.

Franklin and Griffin was exactly what I thought it would be and I thought Griffins size would be the difference. I don't think either of these guys will get back to the top again but it was still an entertaining fight from 2 tough fighters.

Belfort and Silva.... wow I saw that kick coming and Belfort didn't even come close to getting a hand up. Again I thought silva would win the fight but I expected Belfort to make it entertaining for a couple rounds. You just don't see many guys get knocked out by a straight kick to the face.

I just hope GSP can beat Shields so we get the GSP vs Silva fight end of this year or early next year. I don't want to start an argument over who would win the fight because it would go on for days. I just know that I want to see it!!!!

Bader did look terrible, which was a huge let down. I like Bader.

And that Anderson Silva fight looked like it was going to be the same ol boring Silva dancing around looking stupid, and acting like hes mad that the other guy is coming to get him, when hes the one running away..... And then a kick to the face, and the fight was over.

    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
