mat for garage

Anyone have any tips for an affordable mat for the garage?  I can rig up a net/back stop pretty easily on the cheap side.. but I'm having no luck finding an affordable mat here locally.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

I thought about getting a 4x4 piece of carpet padding to put underneath it if it's too thin.

I will only be hitting irons in the garage.. I don't quite have enough room to swing a driver.

I set up a hitting area in my basement this winter as well.  I was going to buy a hitting mat, but a decent quality mat was pretty expensive.  I layered 2 extra area rugs the wife didn't want, and bought a 5'x5' square of high-traffic commercial carpet to set on top of it.  I've hit full shots and the interaction with the club is much better than I expected, it feels like a range mat for the most part.
