Planning a trip to Italy and Greece!

I will be going to Greece and Italy next spring and while Im there I would LOVE the opportunity to play some golf. Does anyone know where I would be able to find courses that are open to the public or has anyone been there that can give a little testimonial on a course to check out! Thanks alot guys!

If you're going to Sicily, try out Il Picciolo Golf Club.

It is located on the slopes of Mt. Etna, the volcano, and has quite a bit of rise and fall to its holes, especially the back 9. Course is furst rate, and has hosted numerous international tournaments.

I would suggest you stay "next door" the night before you play, or have a taxi drive you there: It's easy to make a wrong turn in the mountain roads.

Be aware that this is a mountain course, and some of the flagsticks are extra long so you can see them "over the rise." On one par 5 (No. 6 I believe), I was laying 3 in the middle of the fairway. I looked up at the flagstick, and it seemed to be about 150 yds. away. I took out a 7 iron and nailed it dead straight, and thought for sure I would be putting for birdie. I was wrong. The ball was on the front fringe of the green, and I had a 60-foot chip shot to the cup. The flagstick was about 10 feet tall, and had given me an incorrect sense of distance. (Once upon a time, golfers didn't carry Rangefinders).
