R9 supertri or supertri TP

I just inherited a TaylorMade R9 Supertri driver and I was wondering if it could be a Supertri TP. If anyone knows the physical differences between the two I would greatly appreciate the help. I couldn't see any difference in looks when I went on Google images.

I believe there would be a tm "tp" logo on the toe part of the head if it was a supertri tp.

Not so. The only difference in the 2 in the R9 series are the shafts. The TP version of the shaft comes in the "TP", the heads are actually identical. There is, however, a SuperDeep BBLB TP that has the TP logo on the head. It's a low, low spin head designed for higher swing speeds and better ball striking. The TP shafts are .335 tip diameter and the non are .350. They all work in all the R9 heads and even the R11.

yes, the shafts are different also. good call. I just thought I would point out the one tp logo since it is the most obvious one.

I believe the Super Tri came with the Motore 60 & the Super Tri TP came with the Motore 65

There are NO "TP" logos on the R9 or SuperTri heads, only the shafts.

Taylormade TP heads are .335 and the TP adapters are .335. You can fit a .350 adapter into a "TP" head. If it's a made for TMAG TP shaft it's a .335 tip.

The outside diameter of the adapter of the 3.35 and 3.50 are the same.  The hole in the heads are both the same because there is only one head.  The TP designates a more expensive shaft and some are 3.35 and some are 3.50.  High end shafts like Miyazaki come in both tip sizes.

Lblack is correct, I had the R9 SuperTRI TP before my 910 and it only was marked on the shaft.

If it is a "Taylormade TP" shaft it is .335, end of story. You may me talking aftermarket shafts which is a whole different animal. Only the C.Kua SE comes in .350 per their website. PS- it's 335 & 350 thousandths of an inch. (.335 & .350)

They are all after market shafts as Taylormade doesn't make shafts. So they really aren't aftermarket shafts, just high end shafts.

I've got a bridge to sell ya. They aren't ALL aftermarket shafts. It's nice to keep the consumer in the dark.

LBlack14, your comments have been very helpful as i've learned a few things from you.. thanks.  2 questions i have for you.. i am an OK player (more of a good beginner.. nothing special).. in saying so, should i stay away from the R9 SuperTri TP?  i believe somewhere here you said that the heads are exactly the same between TP and regular? Will i be ok if i have a TP head and put a shaft that suits my skill set?

And secondly, does that go for all brands regarding the TP and regular clubs? ..where u say the heads are exactly the same..

I would go with the R9 Supertri with the stock regular shaft if your swing speed is average (85-90 SS).  Best yet would be to go have a fitting.  The head would be the R11, but you could concentrate on the shaft.

      I am pretty sure it is this. Word probably got around. The reports coming out now is that he bombed some interviews, and when pressed about it during the interview just basically had a horrible response. His attitude is crap. There are stories about him throwing his players under the bus at Colorado. I get it, he's not playing behind the best O-Line or have the best weapons (outside of Travis Hunter). That is bad leadership, bad attitude.  Also, it could be his dad as well. Who would want Prime Time chattering.  Go watch the playoff run. Four top 10 teams. He was elite. The Penn State game happened with our starting left guard shifting to left tackle and going up against the 3rd pick in the NFL draft. He had two big mistakes early. The pick, which looked to be a defensive play call to trap that RPO quick out, and then the fumble off his knee. He won the game besides that.

      Yea I admit too I had more of a 2nd round evaluation on him, where I wrote in my notes "Maybe Geno Smith" after watching a couple games. Too many screens, too many sacks, awkward throwing motion at times, low velocity at times. Too low. At other times though I thought he made some nice throws, hence why I thought he should've probably gone around round two. So to me the free fall is surprising to an extent, but of course, it all makes sense now that he's still sitting there. He probably bombed his interviews too, and I know almost nothing of his personality. I love sports betting, hence why I love following this stuff, but there's only so much I can know from the outside looking in. But yea, my 2nd round guess was smart to an extent, but also bad now that he's still on the board and it's pick 4.17 at the moment. I see. Thanks for the take, I know you watch every game of theirs.  I just watched some of the Penn State game and can see both the upside and why he's still available. But I can get on board as well that Howard has more upside than Sanders too. Tougher competition, showed some growth from K-State to Ohio State.  I guess the question marks with Howard are processing and accuracy. Yea especially for us as fans. We don't get to interview these guys or talk to their college coaches to get a better idea of what they'll be like to work with everyday. We don't know who will end up being more durable and whose body will just naturally break down over the next few years. Some guys are great talents who go to terrible situations too, who are poor system fits in failed regimes. Other guys hit the jackpot with the perfect role on a great team in a weak division. There are so many variables.
